The 2007 Ford Mustang Saleen Parnelli Jones Edition (often designated as the S302-PJ) is a highly collectible, limited-production muscle car [1, 2]. It was created as a visceral tribute to legendary racing driver Parnelli Jones and his iconic, championship-winning 1970 Boss 302 Mustang that dominated the Trans-Am circuit

Production & Exclusivity

• Limited Run: Exactly 500 units were produced for the single 2007 model year.
• Serialization: Each car features a unique build number displayed on the left side of the front bumper and a serialized dash plaque signed by both Steve Saleen and Parnelli Jones.
• Championship Ties: Build #001 was presented directly to Parnelli Jones himself
• Unlike standard aesthetic-only tribute cars, Saleen extensively engineered the S302-PJ for modern track-day performance
• Engine: A hand-built, naturally aspirated 5.0-liter (302 cubic inch) 3-valve V8 engine. Saleen achieved this by stroking out Ford's modular 4.6-liter block
• Internals: Equipped with forged aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods and crankshaft, ported aluminum cylinder heads, and performance camshafts

Exterior Details: Black "hockey-stick" side stripes, a flat black decklid, a functional aluminum "Shaker" hood scoop, rear window louvers, and a replica 1970 wing spoiler and Rear Window Slats

Wheels: Unique 19-inch Minilite-inspired racing wheels wrapped in Pirelli high-performance tires

Interior: Black and orange dual-tone leather sport seats, specialized black-faced racing gauges, center-dash oil pressure/temperature pods, and a Saleen PJ steering wheel medallion

It is finished in Grabber Orange over black leather and is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 linked with a five-speed manual transmission. Saleen modifications include revised body styling and graphics, a “shaker” hood, and edition-specific engine, suspension, and brake components. Additional equipment includes 19″ Saleen Minilite-inspired aluminum wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, and a Shaker 500 stereo

All Saleen Parnelli Jones Edition examples were finished in Grabber Orange, and features include a black decklid, side stripes, and 302 lettering on the fenders along with the car’s unique “223” series number on the left side of the front bumper cover, the Saleen Firewall Tag # 75264998 S-302PJ and the Saleen Serialized Tag. Saleen-specific styling consists of a front lip spoiler, front and rear fascias, side skirts, rear-window louvers, and a “1970 replica” rear wing. The billet fuel door features a Saleen Parnelli Jones logo, and the aluminum hood is equipped with a “shaker” air intake. Racecraft suspension system was standard on the Parnelli Jones Edition, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with slotted front rotors

The seating surfaces are upholstered in black leather with orange inserts. Panelli Jones-branded trim adorns the shift knob and front seat backrests, and additional appointments include air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry, and a Shaker 500 stereo. A plaque above the glove compartment notes the car’s unique serialized Saleen number and identifies this example as #223 of 500 built

The leather-wrapped steering wheel features a Saleen Parnelli Jones Edition horn button logo and frames model-specific instrumentation consisting of a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. Additional readouts for oil temperature and pressure are mounted atop the dashboard

The Saleen-tuned 5.0-liter V8 was factory rated at 400 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Saleen modifications consist of a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, ported aluminum cylinder heads, and performance camshafts
