This truck received a recent complete paint job inside and out in factory
colors. It is a decent repaint as the cab was dismantled during the process. The undercarriage is
clean and mostly painted without rust. It’s easy to tell that most of the components are new or
recently replaced. The truck falls short of being #1, but it’s still very clean and mostly restored.
The engine is a 348 which wasn’t available in, 1955 so it’s definitely not original. It does have
the V8 factory emblems, which can lead to assumption but not conclusion. If it did it would be
a 265 V8, otherwise it would be a straight 6, 250 or 292 some producing nearly 300 lb. ft of
torque.
There is a Tommy lift mounted at the rear of the bed. It certainly adds value along with letting
it do what it was built for – Working Hard, and with nostalgia. This truck is almost work
ready. They are quite popular on farms that’s the reason for the 40 gallon external fuel tank.
These particular trucks tend to be somewhat elusive in the marketplace. It’s not that there
just aren’t any because they are out there Likely on farmland being utilized day in and day
out. Usually what shows up for sale needs everything, and they still sell. The average scrap
bucket goes from 5k to 8k, and that’s pretty much a basket case. Vehicles such as this do in
fact sell but not usually for a great deal of money. These are often farm or industrial use and
get driven until they literally stop working. That’s where all the basket cases come from.
This truck is kind of an anomaly because it has been mostly restored and is valid in today’s
market. The Tommy lift is a huge factor as is the diamond plate on the bed and that is a
stake side. It is quite usable and still has versatility. Another point to make is that outside of
Nostalgia, it would need to sell for above the price of new flatbeds, and that is not likely to
happen. It doesn’t take them out of the market, it does put a cap on the value. That cap likely
amounts to 40k.
Calculating an average base price and adding components will lead to the replacement
value.

appear to be very strong but grades 34 and maybe part of 2. The average sales are down for

unit, then value can be added back.
